This engagement shoot brings back all my favorite summer evening memories. The scent of sun-warmed milk thistle fills the air. The sound of wild grass sways in the gentle breeze. The soft golden-hour light caresses everything after the intense midday heat.

Amidst the backdrop of Tesoro Viejo, this collaboration brought the feverish dream of summer nights and summer love to life. Alyssa and Raphael didn't have a particular vision for their engagement shoot. However, this cool Central Valley evening delivered exactly what we needed.

"I like bright and airy," Alyssa explained during our initial client meeting. My immediate thought was to take our photo session outdoors. And of course, golden hour—the magical time just before sunset—casts a warm, enchanting light. It transforms everything it touches into something ethereal and beautiful.

After discussing the initial ideas, I decided to leave the rest of the plan open-ended. This might seem counterintuitive, but I've been practicing embracing the unknown. Finding beauty in spontaneity can lead to unexpected moments. I saw the opportunity and went for it. Would we hate the pictures, though? Was this a bad idea?
